Czechia Scores 12 Against Switzerland, Remains Unbeaten

Three games, three wins. Czechia did not have the ideal start, conceding their first goal of the tournament in the eighth minute, but Čejka responded shortly afterwards with the equalizer to cancel out Fairclough’s opener. The teams went into the first intermission tied 1–1. The second period produced seven goals, with Czechia scoring five of them to take full control of the game and put the result beyond doubt. Dalimil Zvonek scored twice in the middle frame. In the third period, Czechia added five more goals to complete a dominant 12–3 victory and move to the top of the standings.

COACHES´ REACTIONS

Tibor Kapánek (SUI): "First of all, I would like to sincerely congratulate the future world champions, because they played outstanding ball hockey. Their movement kept putting us under pressure, and our penalties stemmed from that right from the start. We managed to survive the first period, but from the second period onward, everything fell apart for us. It is impossible to play against an opponent when they execute their power plays like that. That was reflected in the result as well, as we conceded seven or eight goals while shorthanded. You simply cannot play like that and expect to succeed."

Petr Kopečný (CZE): "The result is very harsh on Switzerland; they played well for two periods. In the third period, it seemed to us that they started to fade a little. We had a somewhat slower start, but from the second period onward we improved and became more active. Our activity, movement, and determination to see the game through made the difference. Due to the dimensions of the rink, international ball hockey is a game in which power plays often decide matches, and I hope that this trend continues for us going forward."
