Gray Hat Trick Leads Cayman Islands to Dominant 7–0 Victory

The second meeting between the two teams at the championship saw the Cayman Islands take the lead as early as the third minute through forward Eric Armstrong, and it did not take long before Claude Plamondon made it 2–0. In the second period, which was also marked by a lengthy stoppage due to Emerson Chan’s injury treatment, Connor Gray added two more goals. When the same player found the net again late in the final period, he completed a hat trick. Gray’s three-goal performance further settled the Cayman Islands, who went on to score two more goals and eventually cruised to a comfortable 7–0 victory.

Caleb Hayward (GER): "The Caymanians have a great team and play a very physical game. We were in the match during the first period, but then we failed to defend a few unfortunate breakaways, and those really hurt us. Unfortunately, we also failed to capitalize on our power-play opportunities, and that's definitely something we need to work on. Hopefully, that will help us pick up some points. Tomorrow, we face another tough game against Great Britain, so we need to get some good rest and then match their intensity."

Scott Sparks (CAY): "We made a few changes compared to our first game, and it looks like they paid off because the team played much better today than yesterday. We adjusted a few things in our defensive play, tried to spread the floor and it clearly produced results. Tomorrow's game against India will be a challenge, but we'll definitely prepare for them. Before that, though, we'll drink as much beer as we can (laughs)."
