Swiss Claim First Win, Beat Finland 6–1

Switzerland entered its second game of the tournament much better than its opener against Slovakia. The scoring was opened just 2:49 into the game when Adrien Wehrli found the back of the net. The Swiss then took control of the contest and extended their lead to four goals before the first intermission. Both teams scored once in the middle period, while no further goals were scored in the final frame. The team from the land of the white cross comfortably saw out the game and secured its first victory of the tournament.

COACHES´ REACTIONS

Antti Koskela (FIN): "The key moment was in the first period. Our beginning wasn't that good. It was quite bad, actually. I think the game was closed after the first. But it's important that we stay positive, because we have young team and we show everybody in our first game that we can play this game."

Tibor Kapánek (SUI): "You know, it's great to rate matches like this one. We had a great start, we were winning 4-0 after the first period, which was certainly more than we had expected. Still, we want to keep on playing actively, and it paid off. I'm pleased with the way we handled it pretty well, I'm happy that we were playing actively even though our opponents stepped up the intensity a little. My players are prepared to fight for 45 minutes, doesn't matter whether we're winning or losing. Tomorrow we face Czechs, big favourites, but we're not terrified of them, we build some strength and we'll see."
